Là game chiến lược theo lượt 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate - khám phá, mở rộng, khai thác, tiêu diệt), Stardrive 2 là một bước tiến thú vị của thương hiệu StarDrive. Trong phần tiếp theo rất được mong chờ này, các cơ chế cốt lõi của game đã tiến hóa để kết hợp phong cách chiến lược theo lượt với tính năng chiến đấu thời gian thực ngoạn mục.
