Cốt truyện của Arslan: The Warriors of Legend được phát triển dựa trên bộ tiểu thuyết The Heroic Legend of Arslan, đã từng được chuyển thể qua manga và anime trong thời gian qua. Bối cảnh của game diễn ra ở vùng đất Pars, nơi mà vị hoàng tử trẻ tuổi Arslan cùng với những người đồng đội của mình chống lại âm mưu tạo phản và đem lại hòa bình cho vương quốc.
Những màn chơi của game cũng sẽ dựa theo số chương xuất hiện trong bộ tiểu thuyết gốc, những màn chơi này sẽ được mở khóa dần trong quá trình chơi thông qua Story Mode và có thể chơi lại trong chế độ Free Mode.
Với những người mua tựa game này trong tháng đầu tiên kể từ lúc phát hành sẽ được phép tải về hai màn chơi là “Conflict at Gujarat Fortress” và “Battle for the Title” trong chế độ Free Mode, hai màn chơi này có thể dùng để mở khóa những thẻ kĩ năng đặc biệt.
