Như tên gọi, Into The Stars sẽ đưa người chơi bước vào cuộc hành trình phiêu lưu trong vũ trụ, du hành trong một hệ mặt trời khổng lồ, vượt qua vô vàn các hành tinh để tìm được một trái đất mới cho loài người sinh sống. Cũng trong hành trình này, người chơi sẽ phải tìm nguyên vật liệu để nâng cấp phi thuyền của mình, nuôi sống người dân trong đó và trốn thoát khỏi bè lũ người ngoài hành tinh hung hãn.
Vì Into The Stars là một tựa game được phát triển độc lập (indie), nên tất nhiên quy mô của nó không thể hoành tráng được bằng một tựa game chất lượng AAA như No Man’s Sky của hãng Hello Games. Tuy nhiên thật đáng khen cho Fugitive Games là dù họ có chi phí phát triển khá nhỏ, song trò chơi cũng sở hữu cho mình một “thế giới mở” – nghĩa là cả một hệ mặt trời rộng lớn để người chơi tự do khám phá.
