Firewatch là tựa game phiêu lưu, thám hiểm với lối chơi ở góc nhìn người thứ nhất. Người chơi sẽ theo chân nhân vật Henry, một người thám hiểm vùng núi hoang dã Wyoming khi anh nhận một công việc khá mạo hiểm với nhiêm vụ đề phòng hỏa hoạn, nạn cháy rừng ở đây.
Theo Campo Santo cho biết, nhân vật Henry của Firewatch sẽ chu du các vùng rừng, núi một cách khá đơn độc, vật dụng hỗ trợ duy nhất cho anh ta chỉ là một chiếc bộ đàm để liên lạc với cấp trên, một nhân vật tên Deliah nhằm thông báo tình hình, các sự kiện mà Henry sẽ đối đầu.
