Dự án này được một fan của trò chơi nhập vai thực hiện sử dụng gói Unreal Development Kit 2011 (UDK 2011) của hãng Epic Games.
Studio Paint, nhóm thực hiện dự án Final Fantasy VII remake, đã lựa chọn màn chơi mở đầu để chỉnh sửa. Theo đó, toàn bộ phần môi trường của trò chơi gốc đã được tinh chỉnh lại cho mượt mà và "đúng chất" 3D đương đại hơn. Thiết kế ngoại cảnh hầu như vẫn được giữ nguyên nhằm thể hiện sự tôn trọng bản quyền sản phẩm của hãng Square Enix.
Đây là lần đầu tiên một phiên bản remake đáng chú ý của Final Fantasy VII ra đời mà lại do fan làm. Trước đó, đại diện Square Enix từng nhiều lần hứa hẹn sẽ cho tái sản xuất phiên bản Final Fantasy được rất nhiều game thủ Việt yêu thích này. Tuy nhiên cho đến nay, hãng phát triển vẫn chưa đưa ra thêm bất kỳ động thái nào.
Ra đời từ năm 1997, Final Fantasy VII đã nhanh chóng đi vào trái tim của hàng triệu game thủ trên thế giới với các nhân vật như Tifa, Cloud... Trò chơi thậm chí còn được nhiều người coi là "tượng đài" của dòng game RPG.

2. Burn or mount the image
3. Install the game.
4. Copy the content from /Crack directory on the DVD to the install
directory of the game. We recommend firewalling all game exes as well
5. Play the game. The launcher will fail at getting updates. Click continue
6. When you save/load you must wait for the online sync to fail
until you can save/load
