War of the Roses là 1 game hành động góc nhìn thứ 3 theo nhóm, lấy bối cảnh thế kỉ 15 ở Anh. Hai dòng dõi đối nghịch của hoàng tộc Plantagenet - Lancaster (đỏ) và Yorrk (trắng) - tranh đấu để giành ngai vàng, và người chơi bị cuộc xung đột cuốn lấy.
Lịch sử nước Anh những năm 1455-1485 tràn ngập những cuộc xung đột, lừa dối và đổ máu. Thời đại của hiệp sĩ kết thúc, thay vào đó là thuốc súng và sự thay đổi của khí tài chiến tranh. Những mối thù cá nhân của hoàng tộc đẩy cả đất nước trong nội chiến dai dẳng với những đội quân nửa mùa.
